Ashley

Ashley is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Prince Georges County Animal Services in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Ashley, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

A571975 Located At: Prince Georges County Animal Services Division Description: Shelter staff named me Ashley. I am a spayed female, gray and brown Pit Bull Terrier. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 7 years old. Weight: I weigh approximately 33.80 lbs. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jul 07, 2026. Ashley is a sweet little girl, quiet but fully attentive to everything going on around her. She has soulful eyes, as if she has seen life's ups and downs and is ready to settle down and start enjoying life. As revealed by her Doggy Day Out video, she is curious and brave, and can even swim! At home, she can be calm and relaxed. But this must be balanced with a reasonable amount of activity, so daily walks or a nice yard would be great. She is raring to go when the leash comes out! If you want an exercise buddy, she is it! She also really enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. She'll curl up on the couch or a floor pillow. Her pocket size means she won't take up too much space. She loves rubs and chin scratches (with cute 'mlems') and will snuggle up to you for affection. She also sleeps peacefully through the night. She is still working on potty training when left alone during the day. Since one of us works from home, she goes out for walks multiple times during the day and evening which helps, but when left alone she will need doggy pads until she is fully housetrained. There also may be some anxiety when left alone that causes her to root through the kitchen, so I recommend blocking the kitchen with a pet gate while she works through this challenge. There is no doubt this smart girl will get the hang of things. When you come home, she greets you with a happy tail and body wiggles. Sometimes she gets over-excited and jumps, but she obeys promptly when told to calm down. She knows 'sit',and \"leave it\", and leaves the kitchen when told, so again, a very smart girl. She loves dog treats and fruit (apples and bananas)! All in moderation of couse. No cats for Ashley and she is dog reactive, so she would do best as an only dog. She's not perfect but makes up for it with so much love for her humans ?? When we chatted with adults on our walks, she was patient but curious. On one walk, she calmly allowed two little girls to pet her, but that was our only interaction with small children. Ashley is a loyal, affectionate and smart girl who wants a patient and loving family. Could that be you??
