A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on sunroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a male shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He then approached a female shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He then began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He engaged in some gentle/dainty play with a male Labrador mix, but he would become overwhelmed very easily and then gave air snap conections. He remained social with the calmer dogs, but would become very wary, yelping and creating space from the higher energy dogs or higher contact in play. He tried to initiate play a few more times with other dogs, but he continued to become overwhelmed easily. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. He is social with the other dogs and prefers to play with little to no contact. He is a young puppy and would benefit from continued socialization, to continue to grow his confidence with other dogs. He would do best with a calm dog to help build his confidence and not overwhelm him, until he gains more socialization. He will also need socialization to walking on leash.
