Intake Info: Joanie A2335773 was found running loose. The finder kept her safe for two days and posted on social media to locate her owner. No microchip was found. Medical: Heartworm negative and fully processed. Previously treated for an ear infection and had a hernia repaired. She also has an open wound on her back. Staff Notes: Joanie is a lively, sweet girl who sits for treats and responds to verbal corrections. She pulls slightly on the leash and can be difficult to redirect when highly aroused. Volunteer Notes: Joanie has shown increased mouthiness when excited but responds to correction and settles quickly. During play, she grabbed a volunteer's T-shirt but immediately stopped and sat when told 'no.' She returned to her kennel without issue. Behavior Notes: Joanie has displayed overcorrections toward other dogs, including a previous altercation involving neck biting. She has also shown mouthiness toward handlers and can be difficult to redirect during high-arousal play. However, she has had positive interactions with gentler dogs and engaged in appropriate play during a subsequent assessment. She would benefit from carefully managed playgroups with compatible dogs and continued behavior monitoring. Request to Rescues: Joanie is a beautiful, energetic girl in need of rescue and continued behavior modification. She has a history of mouthiness, difficulty managing high arousal, and conflicts with other dogs, but she responds to correction and has shown that she can have positive interactions with compatible canine companions. Joanie needs consistent training, structure, and an experienced place to help her succeed and find the loving forever home she deserves.
