Blue

Blue is an adoptable male Husky looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Blue, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 10/13/2026 - Continuing to work with dog, behavior has improved Dog displays sociability with select handlers at barrier by greeting with a loose, wiggly body and a wagging tail. With other handlers he displays reactivity by barking while posturing defensively. He is reactive upon approach while posturing defensively and jumping back with a tense body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a low tail where he is interested in treats offered to him by hand through barrier. He continues to react after consuming treats. He retreats away from me while barking with same body language as I open kennel and extend leash out to him. He is unable to leash with slip lead or safety tools due to reactivity. As handler he displays sociability with approaches, he adjust and greets them with a loose, wiggly body and a wagging tail. He is easy to leash and walk outside where he pulls heavily on leash. In yard, he does zoomies and continues to displays sociability with primary handler by engaging in play and rolling over onto back with a loose, wiggly body and a wagging tail where he allows primary handler to offer affection. He urinates and defecates in yard. He is interested in continued treats from me where he is not interested to interact with a tense body, pinned ears and wide side eyes. After some time, he is able to adjust and displays sociability with all handlers in yard, coming over to greet with a loose body, pinned ears, wide eyes and a low tail. He adjusts fully and allows handlers to pet him with a loose body and a wagging tail and engages in play with handlers. He greets passing staff at barrier with a loose body and a wagging tail. He is easy to return to kennel where he pulls heavily on leash and leash is easily removed by primary handler. Web Notes: Blue is the kind of boy who knows how to celebrate the little wins. But give him a little time to get comfortable, and you'll start seeing the silly, joyful boy who just wants to have a good time with his people.
