Toasty

Toasty is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at NYC ACC-Manhattan in New York, New York. He is fully grown and medium in size. While in care, Toasty has been observed to be highly fearful. Noted to hard bark and growl at handlers while in kennel. With contact, Toasty becomes tense and will headwhip before moving away and creating distance. With familiar handlers and a slow approach, Toasty will solicit contact and engage with training. Medically, Toasty is apparently healthy. Toasty was brought to ACC as an owner surrender. His previous owner describes Toasty as a social and affectionate dog! He is a vocal guy who is happy being active and playful or lazing on the couch. Toasty is shy and tends to be aloof. He can usually be found where the people are or in his crate for up to 6 hours. He allows for bathing and brushing but has escalated during grooming before. Toasty is nervous on car rides. He is used to going on 20 minute walks 5 times per day and pulls mildly on the leash. He knows sit, stay, down, heel, place/cage, and come. Overall, Toasty is a goofy pup and loves cuddles and belly rubs!
