Beowulf

Beowulf is an adoptable male Rottweiler looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to lack of space, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Beowulf may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.

ID #A2100938 3-year-old male Rottweiler Mix | Tricolor DOB: 10/13/2023 Weight: 51 lbs Neutered on 10/13/26 Intake Date: 10/7/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Beowulf tested HIGH POSITIVE for heartworms and will need treatment. He was neutered on October 13 and has received vaccinations, deworming, and parasite prevention. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Beowulf has shown kennel reactivity toward passing dogs, including growling, and barking at the kennel door, particularly when male dogs pass. But outside his kennel, Beowulf often becomes noticeably more relaxed! Staff have observed him enjoying zoomies, wagging his tail, playing along the fence with a neighboring dog, and walking nicely on a loose leash. He can be fearful when approached with a leash, sometimes ducking away, trembling, or lowering his body. Once outside, however, he often settles and walks calmly back to his kennel.
