Moren

Moren is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Moren, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Moren ACCT A-257379 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Moren must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23rd at 10AM. Should Moren's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Moren first came to ACCT in August as a stray, and was adopted, before his owner left him with their roommate and did not come back for him. Moren was extremely nervous when he first came in, specifically with medical handling. However, he showed a lot of amenability outside of that context, and he came up to everybody for pets right after his vaccines were done. This time around, Moren is still reserved when it comes to the handling necessary for an intake exam, but when he's free to romp around the play yards, he truly shines. Moren has been described by his friends at the shelter as being very good on the leash, enjoying stuffed toys, and displaying an affinity for treats that serves as excellent motivation. We'd love for this to be Moren's last time at the shelter, and to see him leave with someone who can make him a priority. Please reach out for notes from Moren's time at ACCT in August. No issues leaving or returning to kennel. \"Hadn't been out in a few days and was excited to get out, pulls a little. Saw another dog in the yard, high tail and running along the fence. He was a little snatchy and jumpy with treats, so I didn't really pet him much. Seemed fine with pets on his head Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue Enjoyed playing with a stuffed toy in the yard & was running along the fence, high tail with a dog in another yard. Has a nasty cough, especially after running. 9/26 Playgroup Not steerable with either water or can. Ears to the side, wide eyes, mid tail and barking at the fence greetings. Came into the yard nose to the ground. More. Then went over to blueberry attempting to sniff him and going under him. Blueberry attempted to move away with an appropriate correction. Moren then charged blueberry. Staff need pet corrector to break up the scuffle. 9/26 per Staff Flailing when attempted to vaccinate. Able to administer vaccines with muzzle, one nurse bear hugging and another nurse tapping head for distraction. 9/24 per Staff BAR, friendly and timid. Was allowing pets all over when first walked into dog intake. Was very wiggly, baring teeth and not allowing restraint. ACA tried easing into a bear hug or pinning to wall. Pt was not allowing, would get loose when I would touch hind end to distract from vaccine. Called it off to avoid further stressing pt. TTA slip in kennel card. The roommate of Moren's owner described him as, \"fun, energetic, and sweet.\" They told us that he's very affectionate, and that they want him to have better. - Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
