A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by two dogs and exchanged soft greetings with them both. After the dogs broke away, he began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with other dogs. He would give appropriate air snap corrections to higher energy dogs that were playfully jumping on him, trying to entice him to play. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he was more comfortable with the calmer dogs. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. Humberto is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time and would do best with a calmer dog.
