Binky

Binky is an adoptable male Doberman Pinscher looking for a home at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control - West in Phoenix, Arizona. He is still very young and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to behavior. Adopting Binky, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Memo 10/22/2026 10/22/26 13:38 Canine is presenting with under-socialized behavior and limited engagement. Placement with a New Hope Partner is needed by close of business 10/27/26 to provide structured support and prevent potential progression of these behaviors. May be at risk for euthanasia 10/28/26 or sooner if warranted. Intake 10/16/2026 10/16/26 10:43 HMartinez Came in together: A5173207, A5173208, A5173210, and A5173211 Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 10/23/2026 K9 laying in kuranda bed and laying calmly when handlers approached kennel. Continued to lay calmly when handlers entered kennel. K9 curiously looked around. Easily placed slip lead over head. Applied a light muzzle wrap restraint with the slip lead to restrain for injection. K9 did not react when restraint was applied or when injection was administered. Once muzzle wrap was removed, k9 remained calm. Easily exited kennel. 10/20/2026 Dog was curled on kuranda bed when approaching kennel. Would not lift head as handler would attempt to coax forward. Able to step into kennel & slowly lift head to secure leash placement. Dog would be whale eyed, trembling & avoiding eye contact as handler would slowly pet dog. Able to pick up & carry to behavior taxi. Sat up in behavior taxi while riding to small PY. Handler adjusted behavior taxi position to coax dog out, dog would sit up while trembling body, looking around surroundings & started to defecate while still sitting up. Slowly exited out of behavior taxi on own. While repositioning behavior taxi, dog would quickly retreat to corner of PY. Would lay down while trembling body, keeping ears flattened, whale eyed & avoiding eye contact. Handler would approach dog, dog would slowly scoot body to face corner of PY, pressed top of head against fence & curled front legs inward while continuing to tremble body. Offered treats being placed near dogs legs, dog would slowly start to take treats then would quickly press top of head against fence again. Slowly pet dog, dog would do intense skin crawling. Able to slowly pick up & carry back to behavior taxi. Rode well to kennel, slowly exited back into kennel & would lay down curled back onto kuranda bed. Handler slowly removed leash by hand without issues. 10/19/2026 Asleep on bed on approach, neutral bodied, woke up as handler baby talked, remained laying down with neutral body but very timid, no interest in treats offered or tossed near. Pancaked as handler approached, able to place leash with no issues, does not walk on leash, flinched when touched but able to pick up and place into taxi. Pancaked to bottom of taxi, wide eyed, easily startled, no interest in treats offered. Once in small play yard dog would not exit taxi all of evaluation, very timid, tail tucked, wide eyed and constantly scanning environment, some trembling in back legs. Tolerated handler petting but shy's head away, did not solicit attentions, wary of being pet. No interest in treat trail leading out of taxi, would eventually lay down in taxi and side eye handler remainder of evaluation. Rode fine back to kennel, easy return, exited taxi slowly on own into kennel, cowered head/body into corner of kennel allowing handler to remove leash by hand. 10/16/2026 Avoided people, but food motivated. Set up trap. Used catch pole to place dog into truck kennel. Avoided ACO. 10/16/2026 Brought onto ramp on catch pole in bucket due to stiff body, whale eyes.
