Star a friendly dog who arrived as a stray. We have assessed that Star has neurologic disease that is affecting her balance and has uveitis (inflammation) of her right eye. Star will likely need follow up with a veterinary ophthalmologist and a neurologist. Star has allowed all handling and is sweet / solicits attention and treats during her exams. Star was surrendered to the care center as a stray, and we have no known history on her behavior in a home environment. Star has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has shown highly fearful behavior; during her handling assessment she was shaking and would freeze in place, though would quickly lean in to handlers when they knelt down to her or picked her up. Due to her levels of fear, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide a period of decompression and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
