Pre-Screener Form Blockbuster is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. In the care center, Blockbuster has generally been more social and comfortable interacting with handlers but has shown difficulty walking independently from his sibling when it is time to return to the kennel. He has been reluctant to return to the building without his sibling present and can become difficult to move forward when separated from him. Blockbuster is highly social with staff and his sibling but is struggling in the care center. While he does appear to gain confidence from one another, their behavior does not necessarily indicate that they are bonded and unable to be separated. Medically, Blockbuster is apparently healthy. Blockbuster was surrendered by his previous owner because his previous family was evicted from their home. His previous family described him as a social, affectionate couch potato who could be solitary, yet an active dog who needs time to warm up to new people. He was noted to spend most of his time in the living room when he is not napping in his crate. Blockbuster enjoys playing with rope toys and playing with balls. He loves all forms of dog treats. During his stay in care, Blockbuster has been highly fearful and will shutdown/panacake when walking. He has shown some social behaviors with select staff when given space and a slow approach. Due to these concerns, we recommend that Blockbuster be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope Rescue partner where he can decompress and acclimate at his own pace.
