We do not know what happened to Mickey
The date this shelter listed for Mickey has passed. Shelters often push these dates back, and many pets are adopted or pulled by a rescue first, so Mickey may still be there. The shelter can tell you.
Mickey is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at NYC ACC-Queens in Ridgewood, New York. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to behavior, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Mickey may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.
This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. This pet is available only through ACC New Hope partners. To adopt or foster, please complete the pre-screener form below. Inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response. Pre-Screener Form Mickey is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. In the care center, Mickey has shown fearful behavior, including remaining at the back of his kennel, avoiding leashing, tucked tail, lip licking, balking, and refusing to walk or enter unfamiliar areas of the care center. Mickey has shown increased confidence when his sibling is present, becoming more willing to walk, explore, approach handlers, solicit attention, and accept treats and petting, but is overall struggling to acclimate in the care center. While he appears to gain confidence from one another, their behavior does not necessarily indicate that they are bonded and unable to be separated. Medically, Mickey is receiving treatment for mild CIRDC. Mickey was surrendered by his previous owner because his previous family was evicted from their home. His previous family described him as a friendly, gentle dog, who loves spending quality time with his family, car rides, and all types of toys and balls. During his stay in care, Mickey has been highly fearful and reluctant to leave his kennel and walk, though he has shown some social behaviors with known handlers when given space and a slow approach. Due to these concerns, we recommend that Mickey be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope Rescue partner where he can decompress and acclimate at his own pace.
