Poppy*

Poppy* is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at El Paso Animal Services in El Paso, Texas. She is fully grown and large in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Poppy*, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Poppy has spent nearly a year waiting for someone to choose her. Since arriving at our shelter, this sweet girl has been waiting for a family to see her for who she is. But after so many months in a kennel, shelter life is beginning to affect her quality of life, and Poppy is now on our at-risk list She recently went for a Doggy Day Out, and it was a reminder of just how much there is to love about her. Poppy earned a 10/10 from her volunteer, who described her as friendly, curious, and incredibly sweet. She loves belly rubs, booty scratches, and pup cups. She's potty trained, knows tricks like sit and stay, and greets people with the cutest little snort. She's curious about other dogs and stayed calm around them during her outing, watching without barking or growling. Poppy has a playful side, too. She can go from cuddling beside you to zooming around the room in seconds. But underneath all that personality is a gentle girl who deserves the chance to relax, feel secure, and enjoy life outside the shelter. Nearly a year is a long time to wait for a home. We don't want Poppy's story to be defined by the months she's spent here. We want her to have a chance to show her family the dog we've gotten to know. Please consider adopting or fostering Poppy. She deserves a comfortable place to land, a family to love, and the opportunity to simply be someone's dog.
