Handler was able to separate dog from kennel mate using guillotine and high value treats (Hotdogs). Handler reapproached front kennel and began offering treats to dog. Dog was hesitant initially, displaying rounded posture and furrowed brow. Handler was able to get dog to eat from hand withing a few minutes. Handler then draped leash on floor on kennel, dog was highly avoidant of leash. Handler placed a jackpot of treats on leash and closed gate. Dog ate all the treats after about a minute. Handler then retrieved leash and lifted guillotine. Dog retreated to the back and kennel mate came forward, handler again lowered. Dog was now in smaller portion of kennel. Handler reapproached back and tried for a few minutes to lure dogs head into leash loop. Dog was too avoidant if leash was involved. Handler was able to reach in and drape large loop overhead and secure. Dog immediately began chewing on leash. Handler opened gate and reintroduced kennel mate. Dog stopped chewing and softened slightly. Kennel mate was soft postured and affiliative during entire evaluation. Handler spent about 5-7 minutes hand feeding treats to both dogs. Dog would chew on leash as soon as tension was created, usually by kennel mate getting wrapped up in leash or stepping on leash. Handler was able to snag dogs attention most of the time and chewing stopped. Dog had by now chewed about halfway through leash. Handler decided to end evaluation. Handler was able to hand feed dog a few times and attempted to lure forward with kennel mate and remove leash by hand, but dog would not allow. Handler left leash on dog and returned both dogs to the front kennel for cleaning to continue. 10/25/2026 Handler returned to kennel about 20 minutes after evaluation, dog had chewed through leash that was left on. 10/24/2026 Dog had tense body, tucked tail, weight shifted back, retreated to back of kennel as handler approached, assistant went to other side to attempt to separate from kennel mate, both dogs would pace back and forth across divider together, eventually this dog came forward alone, ears back, wide eyes, uneasy, assistant closed divider, dog stayed toward back of kennel as handler reached in leash. Dog paced along back of kennel, avoidant of leash, tightly closed mouth, rounded posture, ducking away if handler swung leash toward her. Dog sat in back corner of kennel, low growled, handler swung leash toward dog and she grabbed it, chewing on leash, handler would gently pull at leash but dog continued to chew until leash broke. Handler went to get a second leash, reset, continued to try and gently lasso leash, dog would whip head toward leash with open mouth or duck away with each attempt. Handler opened divider and let dog through to back of kennel for smaller space, closed divider. Dog was at kennel door as handler opened it, backing away as leash was presented, pacing back and forth in kennel as handler attempted to leash. Handler managed to drape leash over head but as they tightened loop dog quickly grabbed it, chewing at leash again, handler tossed treats, dog would not be distracted, handler tried placing a towel over dog, pet along side, dog shifted away from touch, kept chewing, tried to walk out of kennel but handler closed door since leash was close to breaking. Handler kept tossing treats, dog eventually chewed through leash, handler ended evaluation. 10/21/2026 bucketed to kennel; stiff tense body; ran from staff; muzzle wrap for vaccines; avoidant of handlers; tail tucked; Name: Eemaw Animal ID: A5173467 Breed: TAN/WHITE CHIHUAHUA SH/MIX Sex: Female Age: 0Y 8M Weight: 18.4 lbs Kennel: East Kennel, Wing B - 159 Intake Date: 10/21/2026 Deadline Date: 11/1/2026
