Dundee
Shepherd (mix breed)
Urgent: 2 Days Left
Scheduled: November 2, 2026
Reason: Lack of Space
Dundee is an adoptable male Shepherd looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Dundee, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.
Dundee ACCT-A-263922 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Dundee must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND at 10AM. Should Dundee's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Dundee, an 8-month-old, 39-pound bundle of puppy energy, sweetness, and absolutely adorable ears! This fawn-colored cutie loves exploring the yard, playing with toys, and showing off his perfect sit. He's a big fan of treats, and he's already shown that he can learn and redirect beautifully with a little guidance. He also loves fetch and will happily bring his toy back and drop it for you! Dundee is a social, playful pup who has enjoyed good dog greetings and playgroup sessions with his canine friends. He has a bouncy, vocal play style and lots of enthusiasm for making new friends. He's also a sweet boy who allows handling and has shown a lovely, wiggly personality with people. Like many young pups, Dundee is still learning his manners. He can get jumpy and mouthy when excited, and he can be strong on the leash, so he'll benefit from continued positive-reinforcement training, consistency, and plenty of exercise. He loves treats, responds well to redirection, and has lots of potential to grow into a wonderful companion. With his playful personality, adorable ears, and puppy charm, Dundee is ready to find a family who will help him channel all that enthusiasm into being the best boy he can be. Come meet this lovable little goofball and fall in love for yourself! I walked him back, walked pulling mildly, loose body, hopped right into kennel and leash was removed by hand. DCC Playgroup 10/25: Steer Test: 0/5 can and 2/5 water. Barking at the fence, good greetings, bouncy moves. Vocal player. Per volunteer 10/18: \"Dundee is currently back in ISO and I had the pleasure of taking him out for yard time on Sunday night. He is 8 months old and 33 lbs of fawn-like cuteness. There is a note on his kennel paperwork, that says he sometimes does leash bite, but he did none with me. He bounded around the yard, his energy level high, and by his actions, you couldn't tell that he is sick. However, you can hear that he is sick. He ran around the yard, constantly moving, smelling, picking up toys and briefly tossing them. The toy selection was pretty weak, but I did find a long cylindrical rubber toy that he enjoyed tossing around. It worked well for fetch, too. Dundee will fetch it, bring it back, and drop it. He has puppy manners of jumping, some mouthing, so he will need some guidance; however, he's got a perfect sit and takes treats gently, so he's got lots of potential! He enjoyed fetch and exploring the yard and he seems housetrained. He was barky when he saw other dogs, but he has good shelter dog meets and playgroup sessions. On the way back to the bldg. through the parking lot, he did hesitate moving forward. But it wasn't difficult to get him started again with verbal encouragement and some treats. And those ears...what can I say?!? He will need training to help curb the puppy manners, and regular exercise, but he will make a wonderful family companion. Please come meet him!\" Playgroup 10/12: Steer Test: 2-3/5 with water and 3/5 with can. Came in hit, instant play, vocal, tried to mount. Started to get mouthy with the other dogs, hard mouthing at their backs and collars. Playgroup 10/11: Steer Test: 3/5 with water and can. Came in hot, vocal, push pull play, taking good breaks. Would bark at the other dogs while playing. Per staff 10/11: Kennel Presentation: At the front of his crate with soft eyes, ears back, low loose tail wags, loose body. Took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Wiggly when leashing, used a treat lure to leash and once leashed he came right out. Walked pulling moderately on leash. Sociability: Leaned into all handling with a loose wiggly body, low tail wags, soft eyes. Took treats a little snatchy, open palm is best. Got jumpy when I stopped handling and would jump on me gently, stopped when I turned around. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: n/a Return to Kennel: Walked back pulling moderately, went right into his crate and leash was removed by hand. Color Level: Exp Gold Playgroup 10/10: Steer test 3/5 with water and 0/5 with can. Appropriate greetings at first. Then became persistently humpy. Playgroup 10/7: Good greetings, came in hot, pushy play, loose body. Took good breaks. Playgroup 10/6: Steer Test: 4/5 with water and 0 with can. Came in hot, started jumping on one of the handlers and mouthing at him. The handler tried moving away and he continued, when another handler moved him away he went right back and started going in between the handlers leg and low growling when another dog approached. Was removed from the yard. Per staff 10/5: Very high energy, loose body language allowed me to pet him and pick him up ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
