About Saber

Saber is an adoptable female American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 3 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Saber, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Saber ACCT-A-264339 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Saber must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH at 10AM. Should Saber's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Saber, a beautiful 3-year-old brown mixed-breed girl who arrived at ACCT Philly on October 8th after being found wandering alone in a schoolyard. With no owner information available, Saber has been waiting at the shelter for someone to give her the loving home she deserves. Saber has so many wonderful qualities that make her special! She is an incredibly affectionate, sweet, wiggly girl who loves spending time with people. Staff describe her as extremely affectionate, noting that she has an adorable habit of gently chomping and pawing at her handler to ask for more pets! Volunteers have called her a \"sweet and chill girl\" who enjoys affection, solicits pets, and is perfectly content to lie beside someone and take in the sights and smells. She allows handling, responds to whistles and kissy sounds, and knows how to sit. Saber is also very food motivated, making treats a helpful way to connect with her and encourage her during walks. Saber has shown that she can be a lovely walking companion, too! Staff have reported that she walks nicely on leash without pulling, and multiple volunteers have noted that she is easy to handle once outside her kennel. Although she can get excited when she sees someone coming to take her out, her enthusiasm comes with a loose, wiggly body and a happy desire for attention. Several recent walks describe her as low energy, affectionate, and relaxed. She has occasionally needed encouragement to keep moving or return to her kennel, but she has also had many outings without handling or leash difficulties. Saber has also been a regular participant in doggie playgroups, where she has shown off her social and playful personality! She has repeatedly demonstrated good greetings with other dogs, often greeting them with kisses. Her playgroup notes describe adorable play bows, bouncy movements, zoomies, and running around the yard with her canine friends. She enjoys energetic, sometimes rough-and-rowdy play, and has also shown the ability to move away from other dogs on her own. Staff have observed her mingling peacefully, tolerating other dogs, and disengaging independently. She has had positive interactions with multiple dogs, including Baxter and Atlas, and has shown relaxed, wagging greetings through the fence. Saber is a girl with a big heart and so much love to share. Whether she's giving kisses to her doggie friends, asking her favorite people for extra pets, showing off her sit for a treat, or simply relaxing beside a volunteer, she continues to show just how much she enjoys companionship. She has spent weeks waiting in the shelter, and now her time is running out. This affectionate, playful, treat-loving sweetheart deserves the opportunity to leave kennel life behind and experience the comfort, security, and love of a home. Please consider giving Saber the chance she's been waiting for before her November 5th deadline.
