In the yard, she preferred exploring on her own and chose not to join in play, instead seeking affection from handlers and staying close to them. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. Serena A5741368 (Intact) was easily retrieved from her kennel and guided to the catch pen, where she was collared and leashed without issue. Once inside the yard, Serena exchanged greetings with the dogs, exhibiting a neutral body posture. Following the introduction, Serena chose to explore the environment, avoiding the dogs she encountered along the way. She did not reciprocate when one of the dogs invited her to play. Serena preferred to socialize with the handlers instead, occasionally approaching them to solicit affection. For the rest of the session, Serena coexisted peacefully with everyone in the yard, preferring to remain near the handlers. Once the session concluded, she was returned to her kennel without incident. Serena could benefit from continued socialization in a yard with calm dogs, where she can interact at her own level and gradually develop her social skills.
