A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. Al A5739576 (Intact) was easily retrieved from his kennel and then led to the catch pen, where he was collared and leashed without issue prior to entering the yard. Once inside the yard, he exchanged greetings with the dogs, exhibiting a neutral body posture. Following the introduction, Al followed the dogs around the yard, appearing comfortable in their company though he did not engage in play with them. Eventually, Al became sexually motivated as he mounted the other dogs on multiple occasions, requiring constant verbal corrections. When near the handlers, he allowed himself to be petted. For the rest of the session, the handlers closely monitored Al as he continued to mount some of the dogs. Once the session concluded, he was returned to his kennel without incident. Al could benefit from impulse-control training and continued socialization in a yard with calm dogs, where he can interact at his own pace and gradually develop his social skills.
