He can be a little barky and cautious around other dogs at first, but he?s gentle and easy to guide with patience. He enjoys petting, leaning against you for comfort, and even accepts a hug 🤗. Earl Grey would do best in a home where he can have calm, consistent guidance and lots of love. ✨ People-lover, tolerant of other dogs, and ready to find his forever home! 🏡 other calm dogs required if in the home October 30, 2025 E25-089504 ASSESSMENT DOWNEY A5732856 ?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.? Earl Grey was barking and growling at the front of the kennel with a slightly tense body. He relaxed slightly when the runner produced the leash, but continued to bark excitedly. He was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, walked nicely on leash while bypassing the other kennels, and was easy to collar while soliciting petting. In the catch pen, his body was tense, and he avoided the other dogs at the fence. He required slight pressure on the leash to enter the yard, and did not greet the other dogs. He solicited petting from the handlers, using them for comfort when the other dogs approached. He roamed the yard with a slightly tense body, concerned eyes, ears back, and a high tail. He occasionally challenged the other dogs by standing in front of them and raising his head over their necks, but was easy to steer with a verbal correction. He displayed some hall monitor behaviors, interrupting the other dogs when they played too roughly. Overall, he was able to maintain a neutral demeanor in the yard, and seemed to prefer the company of the handlers to he other dogs. Earl Grey is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time. Earl Grey was already in the yard when the handler decided to begin the handling assessment. He was moved to the side yard, and given a few moments to decompress before the handler entered the yard. he approached the handler with a relaxed body, soft eyes, ears back, a slightly open pant, and a neutral tail with a soft wag. He allowed the handler to pet him all over, becoming slightly uncomfortable when the handler touched his back paws. However, he remained easy to handle, and accepted a hug. He continued to solicit petting from the handler once the assessment was over, and leaned his body against the handler?s legs. He was easy to return to his kennel.
