He has a charming underbite, some dental tartar, and a small skin growth on his leg, but with a little care, he?ll shine like the gem he is! 💎 When approached slowly and gently, Reginald allows pets on his head, neck, and back, and even lets you peek at his teeth and ears. However, he?s sensitive about his feet and belly and will need an experienced, patient person who understands canine body language. 🐕‍🦺 Because of his handling sensitivity and bite history, Reginald is available for rescue adoption only, with a bite disclosure form and KHOA Handling Form. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.? Reginald was lying on his bed with a relaxed body. He was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, and walked nicely on leash while bypassing the other kennels. He stood next to the handler with a neutral body, concerned eyes, and a tucked tail. He allowed the handler to pet his head, neck, and back when she moved slowly. The handler was able to check his ears and teeth. He whipped his head, bared his teeth, lunged, and snapped when the handler tried to touch his feet. The handler touched his abdomen and gently tried to lift him, but Reginald whipped around and bit the handler on the thumb with moderate pressure. The bite did not break skin, but did leave a welt and small bruise. The assessment was ended, and Reginald walked nicely back to his kennel. He bared his teeth at the handler when she tried to remove the leash, but the handler moved slowly and removed the leash without incident.
