Chico A5735534 was laying down when the handler approached him, he got up when he noticed her and retrieved to the back of the kennel. The handler opened the door and was able to leash him with ease. He required gentle leash pressure to walk through the kennels and he kept distance from the handler. The handler sat on the bench and allowed him to sniff his environmental surroundings. He nervously kept distance from the handler, the handler used the leash to move him closer to her. He paced back and forth, anytime the handler gently pet his back, he flinched and ran from side to side to avoid being touched. The handler coaxed and sat down on the floor, Chico remained nervous, he paced back and forth, he was avoidant, he defecated out of fear and flinched anytime she pet him. He tried to get away any chance he could. When the handler attempted to lift his leg, he whipped around quickly and ran from side to side. Due to handling sensitivity Chico will be rescue only for now, if his behavior changes please advise behavior team to re-assess.
