Name: Milo Animal ID: A5787983 Location: BALDWIN - B126 Breed: GERM SHEPHERD Color: BLACK Sex: Male Weight: 70 lbs Age: 4 years 0 months Availability Status: AV PEND SN Date Admitted to County Care: 2026-07-07 July 14, 2026 E26-094869 PLAYGROUP BALDWIN A5787983 'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Milo was near the front of the kennel alert barking and jumping at the barrier. Upon seeing the leash Milo settled and was easy to leash/remove from the kennel. Milo was taken to the catch pen but frequently jumped up on the runner requiring firm leash control/verbal corrections. Once in the catch pen Milo became tense/growled/barked at the dogs at the barrier. Milo was collared/leashed/muzzled with some difficulty as he moved around frequently. The yard was adjusted with only a few helper dogs and was guided into the play yard. Milo displayed a tense body, closed mouth, ears back, high tail, and a stern gaze. He quickly approached the dogs, appearing to challenge them by pushing his muzzle into the dogs. He was able to be steered using firm corrections (shake can/spray bottle). He continued to challenge and appear to 'dominate' the dogs at times pinning them down. Milo was again steered by the handlers and shifted to the alone time yard. He wrestled with his muzzle and eventually settled down. When dogs were nearby the barrier Milo barked/lunged at them and was able to be steered. The handler spent some time with Milo, and he approached soliciting petting, becoming loose and wiggly. Milo remained in the alone time yard maintaining a relaxed demeanor. Milo displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, loose tail wag, and soft eyes. Milo approached the handler soliciting petting from them. The handler was able to examine Milo's ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail. Milo appeared somewhat tense, uncomfortable with his hind area examined but was tolerant of the exam. Milo was returned to his kennel without incident.
