A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Lady was at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and a neutral tail. She was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, pulled strongly on leash while bypassing the other kennels, and was easy to collar. In the catch pen, her body was relaxed, and her eyes were soft. She entered the yard, and exchanged appropriate greetings with the other dogs. She anxiously paced the yard with a heavy pant. She engaged in a minor altercation when she became over-corrective with a playful puppy. She was easy to steer, and neither dog was injured during the altercation. She roamed the yard with neutral body, but became very anxious and agitated when her former housemate was returned to his kennel. She was unable to settle, and was returned to her kennel after a few moments. Lady is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time.
