Description He was fearful in his kennel, defensively barking as he stood in the rear of the kennel. He would not approach the gate. The handler opened the gate and sat on the threshold, spending several minutes coaxing and trying to build trust. He would not approach. The handler stepped in and Buddy pancaked on the ground. He dodged the loop leash a few times before the handler could place it over his head. He walked well, next to the runner on the way to a viewing area. He was wary of the handler at first but then slowly approached. The handler slowly rubbed his head and back. Buddy relaxed and stepped closer. Buddy was tolerant of the handler looking in his ears, viewing his teeth, holding each of his paws, and holding his tail. Buddy allowed the handler to pick him up and carry him back to his kennel. Buddy leaned into the handler's chest with soft eyes and was placed back in his kennel easily and without issue. He needs a go-slow approach and some trust building as well as continued socialization.
