A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a calm female cattle dog mix and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He then approached a calm female Pitbull and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He was approached by a higher energy male shepherd that lingered in his face. He gave a growl warning for space and the male shepherd dashed away from him. When the male shepherd ran away, Teddy chased him away, while continuing to growl. He then broke focus after a few seconds and continued to roam the yard. He continued to remain social and relaxed around the very calm dogs. He would approach the handlers and seek affection at times. He was later approached by a high energy female dog that began to offer him play bows and playfully paw at him to entice play. He gave a growl, followed by an air snap correction. She offered him a few more play bows, trying to entice play. The more playful she became, the more arousal he displayed and began lunging, growling, and snapping at her. A handler was able to pull him away by his leash and he was removed from the yard at this time. Due to his behavior around the higher energy playful dogs, he will be designated as calm dogs required. He will need a very calm dog that will respect his space and boundaries or to be the only dog in the home. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQUIRED), LOW ENERGY
