Coda is an adoptable male Cattle Dog looking for a home at Los Angeles County - Baldwin Park in Baldwin Park, California. He is fully grown and medium in size. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Coda was at the rear of the kennel and approached with coaxing. Coda was able to be leashed/removed from the kennel and was taken to the catch pen. Coda may not be fully leash trained as he occasionally flailed on leash but quickly settled and continued to walk. Coda was given time to decompress prior to the assessment. Coda displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, loose tail wag, and soft eyes. Coda approached the handler and allowed petting and leaned into the handler's touch. The handler was able to examine Coda's ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail with ease. He continued to solicit petting post assessment and when the handler sat, he climbed into their lap. Coda maintained a relaxed demeanor throughout the assessment and was returned to his kennel without incident. Coda could benefit from confidence building and on leash training. Coda is ok for public adoption adults only recommended medium energy level.
