It took quite some time to remove him from the kennel due to his behavior. He required a very go-slow approach when being collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He approached a male shepherd puppy and exchanged a soft greeting with him. He then approached a female shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with her. He began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. He received an air snap waming for space from a male shepherd and had no negative reaction back. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. After a while, he took a break and laid down by the fence in the shade. He did not approach the handlers and would constantly create space from where they were. Tipper is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time. See handling assessment for further stipulations. He allowed the handler to check his teeth with no reaction. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. When the handler touched his tail, he tucked his rear end and darted forward. When the handler touched his rear paws, he spun around toward the handler. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. He appears under socialized around people and requires a very go-slow approach. Due to his fearful nature, his defensive behavior in the field and in kennel and his handling sensitivities, he will be designated as rescue only at this time.
