Vanessa is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Los Angeles County - Lancaster in Lancaster, California. She is fully grown and medium in size. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen, but she is very timid and laid down. She entered the play yard with a low body. She was approached by a female Pitbull and displayed passive appeasement behavior. She laid down and tolerated the Pitbull sniffing her. After the Pitbull walked away, she began to explore the yard. He was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to tolerate dogs approaching her and sniffing her, but she did not retum the greetings at this time. Halfway through her time in the yard, she began to approach some of the calm dogs and exchange soft greetings. She remained calm and social for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calm dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. She was wary of the handlers in the yard and would create space from them. She is social with other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time and would likely do best with a calm dog. She is fearful and needs a go-slow approach. Due to this, she would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids. She will also need socialization to walking on leash.
