Bones is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at Dallas Animal Services in Dallas, Texas. He is senior and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to medical. Adopting Bones, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.
This is Bones, and right now, this sweet boy is fighting for his life. Bio This sweet 9‑year‑old gentleman is at risk for euthanasia due to CIRD but is truly deserving of a second chance. He's a big boy, but incredibly gentle in every way. He's easy to leash, doesn't pull, and moves calmly at your side. His tail is almost always wagging, especially when he realizes you're there to give him pets ' he'll happily follow you around just to get a little more love. He takes treats so softly from your hand, and his calm, steady demeanor makes him an easy companion to be around. He's a kind, loving dog who only wants comfort, connection, and a safe place to land. With the right rescue or foster, he'll have the chance to enjoy the peaceful, happy life he so clearly deserves. Medical Observations 7/28: Large pendulous growth on ventral abdomen on left side, another growth on left thigh area, one growth on medial aspect of right tarsus and several small growths on the scrotal sack. All growths need to be surgically removed and may need a scrotal ablation with neuter. Due out 8.08.26, also needs HW TX. BAR. MM=Pink. Heart and lungs normal. Adoption Exam Completed Altered:No Tattoo/Scar:No Rabies given in RR leg; DA2PP given SQ in RF leg; Bordetella given intranasally Flea and Heartworm Prevention given; Pyrantel given PO Blood sample pulled to perform heartworm test: High Positive (++) Microchip Implanted: 941010005292399 Recheck area on left side of anus (tumor or allergy). Was biting at it and making area bleed on 7/29. Gave cytopoint and started on cefpo on 7/29. Also treated ears with EKT 8/1-I don't see an ulcerated area.DRM Alert. Was noted to chewing at his left hindquarter area and anus. Blood tinged saliva was on the kennel wall. On exam noted an ulcerated lesion to the left side of anus. Not sure if neoplasia or allergic dermatitis. Both ear canals are inflamed with black waxy debris. DX: Ear Swab Cytology=Yeast +++ AU P: TX: Clindamcyin (150mg/ml) 2.3cc SQ TX: Cytopoint 40mg X2 TX: EKT 3cc into both ears RX: Cefpodoxime 200mg 1T SID 10 days 7/31: Pet has been prescribed Doxycycline for 28 days as part of our new heartworm therapy. Pet is to go home with remaining Doxycycline prescribed. RX: Doxycycline 100mg Tabs ' 10mg/kg(Round down) BID x 28 days. 8/7: Pet has been prescribed Doxycycline for 28 days as part of our new heartworm therapy. Pet is to go home with remaining Doxycycline prescribed. RX: Doxycycline 100mg Tabs ' 10mg/kg(Round down) BID x 28 days. 8/13:Staff name: JAP Description of concerns: crusty nose and coughing up phlegm Duration of symptoms: 08/13/26 11:33 Medical Departments Findings: 08/13/26 17:30 The dog is slightly depressed and has bilateral nasal discharge. Currently on doxycycline for HW. atg 8/14- see vet exam.DRM 8/17: QAR. Not wanting to eat. Strong paroxysmal cough and gagging up phlegm. Both eyes are injected with green crusty ocular discharge. Also bilateral green crusty nasal discharge. Thin body condition score 3/9. P: TX: Fluids LRS 1000mls SQ SID 3 days TX: Cerenia (10mg/ml) 3cc SQ SID 3 days TX: Clindamycin (150mg/ml) 2.3cc SQ BID 3 days TX: Enrofloxacin (100mg/ml) 3cc SQ SID 3 days TX: Entyce 3cc PO SID 3 days Collected PCR 08/19 Pt appears to be eating, was given wet food with chicken, during AM medicataion Round, still has a slight hacking cough. super sweet, will continue Tx 8/20- QAR, eating treats and canned food. Start back on oral clinda for three more days. Has been on oral and then injectable for a total of 7 days. Will start on enro and place another FDT for 72 hours RX: Enrofloxacin 136mg 2.5T SID 10 days Shelter Observation 7/29:super sweet wagged tail allowed pets very calm walks well on the leash likes to smile 7/30:calm, super sweet, tail wagging, allowed rubs, entered kennel with no problems. 8/9:Social and mingled with the group, having on/off interactions. Showed a brief interest in play. 8/11:Easy Going Good Manners;Good on Leash;Pottied Immediately Social (People) Wants to Sniff Bones is a gentleman with good manners. He was very easy going and mild mannered walking out to the yard and passing by the other dogs. Outside he went potty and sniffed around. He laid down on the turf and liked getting pets and treats. 8/17: Bones is a really sweet boy. He's easy to leash, doesn't pull on the leash, loves to follow you around like a little shadow, it's so cute.
