Day 1: dog laying down in bed. 8/16/2026 day 1; dog didnt eat kibble or wet food but was seen laying down in bed 8/8/2026 Dog was laying on bed on approach, ears perked, stood and came to life room door, displaying soft face, wagging tail. Easy to leash. Walked with moderate pull, no issues passing customers and staff. Puffed cheeks when passing reactive small dogs, briefly pulled towards them, easy to redirect away. Walked to outside play yard without issue. Dog explored independently, neutral body language. Did not actively seek attention from handler but would stand nearby, looking around, allowed petting. Handler retrieved leash, walked dog to gate. Applied precautionary clip lead, dog turned head, lightly bit at clip lead slack, then turned back towards gate. Moderate pull on return. Entered life room with light guidance. Handler loosened leash via clip lead as dog was standing just out of reach, then was able to fully remove it by hand. *Potential adopters should receive guidance on safe, fear-free handling techniques and on recognizing signs of anxiety or stress in dogs to promote safe and appropriate physical interactions. In yard, dog explored for several moments with relaxed body; urinated & defecated; continued to explore. Eventually approached handler allowed for all petting; took treats gently; continued to explore; would approach when verbally coaxed with treats. Dog explored and occasionally checked in with handler throughout interaction. Staff walked past with a dog; this dog ran to fence; hackles raised; alarm barking; followed along fence; picked leash up; staff was no longer in view; dog followed handler; continued to explore; followed handler walking back & forth in yard. Staff approached and dog approached yard fence with relaxed body. Dog followed handler over to pool and drank water. Laid down and allowed handler to splash water over back. Picked leash up; walked back to kennel; moderate pull; muzzle punched window to 5-pack with a dog in kennel; entered kennel; allowed handler to remove leash. 8/6/2026 Assisted with pulling dog for AM cleaning. Dog was standing at kennel door, tense body, high wagging tail, pushed through door opening while trying to place leash, mouthed leash once, settled and allowed placement. Moderate pull to yard, ignored kenneled dogs. Explored yard, nose to ground, tail flagged, approached handler briefly with soft body and wagging tail, allowed pets on head, took treats gently, continued exploring. As another dog was walking by dog lunged and muzzle punched fence, body stiff, growling, pawing at gate, once other dog was out of sight took a moment before dog settled, continued exploring, panting heavily, softened with wagging tail when approaching handler again, allowed more pets, able to pick up leash, became tense with flagged tail while walking past reactive dogs in building, easy return to room, allowed handler to remove leash by hand, tossed hot dogs and exited room. 8/3/2026 Only ate the wet food part of bowl, left all dry kibble. Heard canine growling and barking; walked back to kennel and observed canine barking and looking at drain; drain cover appeared to have been lifted and dropped into gutter; tense body; tail flagging. K9 suddenly fell lateral and began choking. Tech able to open k9s mouth and manually remove obstruction of chicken and rice from throat and clear airway.
