Lemmy

Lemmy is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to other. Adopting Lemmy, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Intake Information: Lemmy (A2342253) came to our shelter after his owner's mother reported that she was dog-sitting when an altercation occurred between his girlfriend's dog and Lemmy. While attempting to separate the dogs, Lemmy bit her on the left wrist. She stated that the bite was not intentional. Medical: Lemmy is heartworm negative and fully processed. He is currently receiving treatment for kennel cough. Behavior: Lemmy is steerable with the spray bottle. During a playgroup session, he entered the yard with Buttercup. When Buttercup approached to greet him, Lemmy initially stood stiff but did greet her briefly before the dogs separated. No play was observed, but there was plenty of appropriate greeting behavior. Lemmy appears unsure of what to do when other dogs approach him and would benefit from small, controlled social sessions to help him become more comfortable with playgroups. Volunteer Notes: Lemmy is a gentle boy who allowed full-body handling and enjoyed being petted. He sits for treats. Staff notes: bottom left canine broken, skin tag on left shoulder, and observed hair thinning on his tail. Request to Rescues: Lemmy is in need of urgent rescue due to his bite history and current kennel cough treatment. He needs a rescue that can help him continue his treatment, recover outside of the shelter, and find his perfect home. He will also need slow, controlled introductions to other dogs at a pace that makes him comfortable. At 6 years old, this sweet boy deserves the opportunity to leave the shelter and find the right home where he can thrive.
