Triton

Triton is an adoptable male Cattle Dog looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Triton. I am a male, black and white Australian Cattle Dog mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 7 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 11, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHD35. Weight: 45 lbs Intake Date: 8/11/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Triton is heartworm positive and has some scars on his face. On 8/26, Triton developed hacking consistent with suspected CIRD/URI. He was moved to treatment and started on Doxycycline 200 mg once daily for 10 days. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Triton is an absolute sweetheart. He greets people with a wiggly body, wagging tail, soft eyes and an open-mouth smile. He happily accepts face rubs, ear scratches and pets and has been called 'very sweet.' He is gentle and easy to leash, walks nicely on a loose leash and remains calm and quiet in his kennel. He even stayed relaxed during his heartworm blood draw while dogs around him were barking loudly. Triton generally pays little attention to other dogs while walking past them. On one occasion he growled toward a neighboring dog in an outside run but immediately stopped when verbally redirected. He also keeps his kennel clean overnight.
