Evancito

Evancito is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Evancito, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Evancito. I am a male, black American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 10 months old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 12, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHD16. Weight: 40 lbs Intake date: 8/12/2026 ⸻ 📈MEDICAL NOTES: On 8/25, Evancito developed green nasal discharge and sneezing consistent with CIRD/URI and was started on Doxycycline 200 mg once daily for 10 days. He recently had soft stool and was placed on GI protocol with Panacur 9 mL daily for 5 days and Metronidazole 500 mg twice daily for 5 days. He remained bright and alert with no vomiting or other signs of parvo noted at that time. Evancito is heartworm negative and has received DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies, deworming/Pyrantel and Advantage Multi. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Evancito has shown many wonderful puppy behaviors. He greets people with a loose, wiggly body, soft eyes and wagging tail. He has been easily leashed, walked nicely on a loose leash, accepted pets and treats, and kept his kennel clean overnight. In the outside run, he has even been seen play bowing and running alongside another dog in a neighboring run. Evancito has also had moments of fear and reactivity in the stressful shelter environment. This young pup needs a patient person who can give him time to decompress and feel safe.
