Amy

Amy is an adoptable female Retriever looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. She is a young adult and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Amy, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 1 of 2 in kennel: Dog is trembling with a tucked tail, wide eyes, and tucked ears upon first approach. She is avoidant of the leash by turning her head away initially. She is able to be leashed and walked outside where she runs to the end of the leash intermittently. She is able to be walked into the yard while handlers walk behind her. She is reactive towards passing handlers by barking and growling with a tense body and raised hackles. When handlers approach the yard, she steps forward with the same body language. As handlers enter the yard, she retreats while barking with a tucked tail. When her leash is secured, she flails on leash with a tucked tail and tense body. She is able to be walked back inside the building as handlers walk behind her. Her leash is easy to remove once she is in the kennel. Behavior possibly due to environment and/or undersocialization.
