Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Luna. I am a female, tan and white Australian Cattle Dog mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 7 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 26, 2026. I am in kennel DA25. RESCUE ONLY MEDICAL🆘️ 🐾 Meet 7-year-old Luna ID #A2093418 7 years old | Female Australian Cattle Dog Mix | Tan / White Weight: 53 lbs Intake date: 8/26/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Luna arrived at BARC with a serious tail injury. According to the owner, Luna had been chronically chewing on the end of her tail, possibly related to anxiety. The end of her tail is described as blunted, crusted, bleeding and widened. The shelter veterinarian prescribed: ' Carprofen 100 mg once daily for 7 days ' Clavamox 375 mg twice daily for 14 days The medical notes state that the tail can be clipped and cleaned at the time of surgery if she has a positive outcome. Luna's initial heartworm test could not be completed, but she was later HIGH POSITIVE for heartworm. She has received DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies ' 1 year, deworming and Advantage Multi. 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Luna can be very fearful during stressful handling, but she has also shown a much calmer side. On 8/28, she slowly followed staff to the runs with a semi-loose leash and neutral body. On 8/29, she did well during her heartworm testing, was easily muzzled, and was calmly returned to her kennel. She needs a patient, quiet environment where she can feel safe.
