Chance

Chance is an adoptable male German Shepherd looking for a home at Dallas Animal Services in Dallas, Texas. He is fully grown and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to medical. Adopting Chance, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Chance is a male dog who presented severely emaciated with a Body Condition Score (BCS) of 1/9. He is also suffering from significant dermatitis, with possible underlying autoimmune disease such as lupus or pemphigus. Chance will require prolonged medical care and nutritional support to safely address his severe emaciation, as well as ongoing treatment and further diagnostic workup to determine the underlying cause of his skin disease. His condition requires a level of specialized and extended medical care that we cannot consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his condition, Chance remains resilient and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Chance needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive the prolonged nutritional support, dermatologic treatment, diagnostic testing, and veterinary care necessary to improve his health and quality of life. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level and duration of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
