Memo 9/2/2026 09/02/26 15:14 Canine has displayed concerning behaviors in this enviroment, resulting in a near bite to staff. Placement with a New Hope Partner is required by close of business 9/8/26 to support behavior evaluation and mitigation strategies. May be at risk for euthanasia 9/9/26 or sooner if warranted. Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 8/29/2026 Closed outside for AM cleaning. Dog was standing at kennel door, soft body and wagging tail, eagerly took treats, easy to leash, moderate pull to yard, hackles raised and high wagging tail when walking past kenneled dogs, stopped to sniff, remained calm, easy to redirect away and continue walking. Affiliative with handler, wiggly body and wagging tail, jumpy, mouthy, handler tossed toy then sat in chair, dog ran to handler and jumped on lap, toy in mouth, grabbed handler's wrist, no marks left, let go of handler and explored yard, after a moment returned to handler soliciting more attention, front paws on lap, panting heavily, allowed petting all over, eyes closing, able to redirect off with treats, sat when given cue, grabby when taking treats. Able to pick up toy, dog jumped up and air snapped trying to take from handler, settled and sat when given verbal cue, handler then tossed toy, dog brought toy back over to handler, allowed handler to reach down and pick up toy but would continue to jump up and air snap. Handler picked up leash, dog grabbed leash then quickly released, no issues walking back to kennel, easy return, allowed handler to reach in and remove leash by hand. 8/28/2026 Dog was pulled out for MG, when dog was in with PA's she was very affectionate and wanted to be petted, dog jumped into PA's lap and wanted to sit with them. Handler brought toys into MG, handler went to reach down for toy and dog low growled at handler, handler then pulled hand away and dog went back to playing with the toy and wanting to be petted again. Handler then ended MG shortly after. 08/29/26 06:56 Updating note to ORANGE CARD type 8/22/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Fetch toys, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Calm, Sit, sits calmly for leashing, high energy in yard, chases ball and runs back to me and jumps her front body onto my legs, mouths the toy but will eventually drop the ball with commands, affectionate and attention seeking but also explores, wags tail/wagging body, cute, wiggly girl, 8/12/2026 Dog was closed to front half of kennel during AM cleaning. Offered treats, would take treats gently. Leashed without issues. Walked to main PY along side handler while stopping to sniff along the way. Once in PY, dog would continue to sniff nose to ground. Approached handler on own while having slow tail wags. Offered treats in hand, would take treats gently. Appears to know \"SIT\" & \"DROP IT\". Would play fetch with a tennis ball, bring ball back each time, responded to \"drop it\", offered treat then tossed ball again. Would jump up against handler, leaning in for petting. Would jump up onto bench & attempted to sit into handlers lap, handler would toss treats onto ground to get dog to off. Would run & do zoomies while keeping high playful energy. Picked up leash & walked back to kennel without issues. Entered into kennel & removed leash by hand. Due to amount of jumping up against handler, placing Older Children as a Recommendation. Interested parties should be counseled on providing this dog with proper decompression time in a new home. Allowing time to adjust is important for their comfort and well-being. Adopters should be counseled on proper dog-to-dog introductions, which should only occur after the dog has fully decompressed. 8/11/2026 Very timid, hesitant to approach handler, slowly came forward to accept treat gently but slowly backing away from handler with eyes wide, head lowered, tail tucked. Needs full evaluation. 8/9/2026 walks on leash, seeks attention, wants to sit in lap, mild restraint for vaccines Name: Amethyst Animal ID: A5169725 Breed: BLUE/WHITE AM PIT BULL TER Sex: Spayed Age: 3Y 1M Weight: 44.8 lbs Kennel: West Kennel, Wing I - 277 Intake Date: 8/9/2026 Deadline Date: 9/8/2026
