Her owned name is actually Drama Queen, but she prefers to go by Rammy ' and honestly, both names seem pretty fitting for this lovable diva. Her former family described her as a total diva, a cuddle bug, and 'funny as hell,' and we think those are some pretty great qualities. She loves her people and is reported to be good with strangers and children. She is the kind of dog who wants to be part of your life and soak up all the love she can get. Shelter life has been a little overwhelming for her, and she hasn't quite been herself here. She can be quiet and hesitant in her kennel, but once she is given some gentle encouragement and time to warm up, we see her softer side come out. She enjoys food, relaxes with kind handling, and will give some lovely tail wags when she is feeling comfortable. We think Ivy is the type of dog who could really blossom once she has the consistency, attention, and one-on-one time that are difficult to provide in a busy shelter environment. Ivy would do best as the only pet in her home. She has a history of being reactive toward other dogs and has previously been involved in a dog fight, so she will need a family who understands that she doesn't need furry siblings to be happy. She has shown us that she can have appropriate interactions with some dogs when introductions are slow and carefully managed, but an only-pet home will give her the best opportunity to relax and feel secure. Ivy is also looking for a special adopter who is willing to help her with some ongoing medical needs. She has significant eye issues, including severe dry eye (KCS), which has caused thick discharge and conjunctivitis in both eyes. She has also recently dealt with a UTI and a shelter-acquired upper respiratory infection and is receiving care for those issues. Her eyes in particular will require continued veterinary care, but we believe getting her out of the shelter and into a comfortable home environment could make a world of difference for this girl. Ivy may be a little down on her luck right now, but underneath it all is a funny, affectionate, lovable diva who spent years as someone's cherished companion. She deserves the chance to feel comfortable again, receive plenty of TLC, and show her new family just how wonderful she can be. Quick bouncy move, tolerant and moved away on her own Per staff 8/28: Adding selective and reactive waiver out of an abundance of caution due to OS notes of not good with other dogs and the fence meet from earlier. However she did have a good meet with another dog later in the day. Per staff 8/28: Kennel Presentation: On the back side of the kennel when I approached. Called her name a few times to see if she'd turn around. Had to open the door. She slowly came up to the divider area. I tossed a few treats, she sniffed them but did not eat them. Ears forward and tail down not moving. Leash Skills: Spoke softly and she slowly came to the front. Lowered her head and allowed leash to go on. Hesitated to come out of kennel and stumbled a bit due to the height of the kennel. Walks slowly on the leash, noses to the ground once outside. Lots of stopping and going to the bathroom. Sociability: Tolerant of handling. Once I offered some food her body softened, ears to the side and mid tail wagging. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met snoop dog. Stiff fence greetings with high tail wagging. Took the meet slowly allowing the dogs to sniff each other. She then gave some quick bouncy moves and the moved away. Return to Kennel: Hesitated slightly to go back in. I said up up in a baby voice and she was able to jump up. Removed leash with hand. Color Level: Blue Per staff 8/28: Attempted to get Ivy into playgroup. Stiff body, slowly walking to the fence. High tail and muzzle punched at the fence where the dog was. Per owner 8/27: Ivy's owned name is Drama Queen and she lived with her owner for 7.5 years. She was described as being a straight diva, total cuddle bug, snores like an old man, but is 'funny as hell.' She is not housetrained, is crate trained, medium energy, pulls on leash, is reactive to other animals, and has bitten another dog on the leg. She has eye issues, itchy paws, and stomach issues. She likes cheese, is good with strangers and children, and is 'terrible' towards cats and dogs. The owner noted that her ideal home is with someone who has the time to give her love and that she likes to be called 'Rammy.' Per staff 8/27: We later found out that the person who claimed to find Ivy as a stray, was the owner's friend who was supposed to be watching her. The owner unfortunately is unable to reclaim due to extenuating circumstances. We also learned that Ivy id dog reactive, and has been in a dog fight with another dog which is why she has scarring on her face. She did react and bite the other dog in the leg. Per staff 8/27: Dog removed from home of caller. Caller stated the dog just walked up to her and did not belong to anyone in the area. She had a wagging tail, few hello barks, lifted into truck easily. Medical Notes: Per staff 9/3: This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a \"doggy cold\". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection. Per staff 8/27: Ivy was QAR with a BCS of 6/9, good muscle condition, and adequate hydration. She had thick ocular discharge and conjunctivitis in both eyes, with no nasal or ear discharge. Mild dental calculus and mild abdominal tension were also noted, but her cardiovascular, respiratory, neurologic, musculoskeletal, skin, lymph node, and urogenital exams were otherwise unremarkable. Assessment included reported anorexia, KCS (dry eye), and a UTI. Schirmer tear testing was 0 OU, consistent with severe dry eye. Abdominal radiographs showed no obvious urinary stones. Urine sediment showed white blood cells with intracellular bacteria, numerous red blood cells, and crystals, supporting a urinary tract infection. Per staff 8/27: Dog has not eaten in two days; blood in urine; heavy discharge from eyes. ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
