A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experences. She was loose with soft eyes while the runner easily clasped the collar around her neck. He was tense and lip curled at a female pit bull who came up to greet her through the fence. She calmly entered the yard on a long loose leash and stopped, scanning the yard for the other dogs. She slowly walked the penmeter while exploring and watching the other dogs. She froze with wide eyes as a young, male Malinois came up and enticed her for play. She leaned away with hackles raised, not comfortable with his energy. She was then approached by the female pit bull. She once again froze, tolerating her body being sniffed but tumed her head away to avoid a direct nose-to-nose greeting. She was also tolerant of a calm, male boxer coming up to greet her. Her leash was dropped and she spent a few minutes sniffing the area by herself. She slowly came up to a group me sure d handler. She sniffed them and exchanged several calm greetings. The male Malinois became playful, enticed her for play and began zooming This caused her to focus on him and become aroused. As she began chasing after him while growling, a handler was able to step on her leash, preventing her from advancing. She was removed from the yard at this time. She may do best in a home with only calm dogs. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REQ, MEDIUM ENERGY
