Crystal is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at Dallas Animal Services in Dallas, Texas. He is senior and medium in size. Crystal is a male dog with a low body condition score and significant muscle loss (sarcopenia), as well as an auricular hematoma (hematoma AS). He also has severe osteoarthritis affecting both elbows and severe spondylosis of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. These chronic orthopedic conditions are likely to cause significant pain, stiffness, and mobility challenges and require ongoing medical management, pain control, nutritional support, and close monitoring. The level of specialized and prolonged care Crystal requires exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his condition, Crystal remains resilient and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Crystal needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive comprehensive veterinary evaluation, appropriate pain management, nutritional rehabilitation, and ongoing care for his severe orthopedic and spinal disease to help improve his comfort and quality of life. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
