We do not know what happened to Hunter
The date this shelter listed for Hunter has passed. Shelters often push these dates back, and many pets are adopted or pulled by a rescue first, so Hunter may still be there. The shelter can tell you.
Hunter is an adoptable male Akita looking for a home at Dallas Animal Services in Dallas, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to lack of space, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Hunter may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.
Hunter is a senior gentleman with a calm, gentle personality and a soft spot for belly rubs. He walks nicely on leash, knows how to sit, and takes treats gently. During his time with volunteers, Hunter has enjoyed sniffing around the play yard, doing silly little zoomies, and sitting close for pets. He often rolls onto his back to ask for belly rubs and has a sweet, wiggly demeanor once he warms up. Hunter can be a little shy about touch at first and may prefer to take things at his own pace, but he has shown a friendly and affectionate side with the people he trusts. He has also spent time around other dogs and may be vocal or offer corrections during greetings, so thoughtful introductions are important. If you're looking for a sweet senior companion with plenty of personality, come meet Hunter! Due to capacity at the shelter, this pet is currently at risk for euthanasia. We are urgently seeking placement through adoption, foster, or approved rescue. If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing this dog, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov as soon as possible. When emailing, be sure to include a callback phone number so our team can contact you promptly.
