He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by two dogs and tolerated them both sniffing him, but he was tense with hackles raised and a high stiff curved tail. After the dogs broke away, he began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. After some time, he appeared to relax more and exchange softer greetings with the other dogs. He remained calm and social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He would approach one of the handlers in the yard and allow them to pet his head. Duke is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time and would ikely do best with a calmer dog. See handling assessment for further stipulations. He approached with soft body language and began seeking affection. He allowed the handler to pet his head with no reaction. When the handler checked his teeth, he would tum his head away. He allowed the handler to check his ears with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch and lift his front paws with no reaction. He allowed the handler to touch his tail without issue. When the handler touched his back paws, he pulled them away. He was retumed to his kennel without issue. He displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but he does best with a slower approach. Due to his need for a slower approach and some mild handling sensitivities, he would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
