***DEADLINE. MUST EXIT SHELTER BY 5PM THUR 9/24*** I am a male, 47.00 lbs, black and brown German Shepherd Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Jul 26, 2026. I am an at risk animal. Please contact the shelter for more information. Behavior - not doing well in shelter. Needs an adopter or rescue. Adopters visit in person. Rescues please visit in person or email TransferDAS@rivco.org Breed: German Shepherd Dog mix Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 8 months old. STAFF OBSERVATIONS 07/26/26 12:17 Pet refused to walk through lobby. With assistance from owner pet slowly walked through initial lobby door into hallway. Door closed behind pet and he began to alligator roll. Waited for pet to calm down and he slowly made his way on his own through the hall into the receiving. Pet would stop, fearful, before walking into sally port. Approached cage and pet became reactive, attempting to alligator roll again. Put was carried into kennel, calmed down once inside. 07/30/26 Dog participated in playgroup today. Dog was observed presenting fearful behaviors with other dogs upon entry. Dog was observed giving warnings and corrections as well as tense greetings with other dogs in playgroup. Dog was also observed presenting minorly playful behaviors with a puppy in playgroup and wary of handler behaviors with handlers in playgroup. 08/05/26 Dog participated in playgroup today. 08/14/26 Dog participated in playgroup style today. 09/02/26 Dog participated in play group style today. 09/08/26 Dog appears to be declining in shelter environment. Dog is alarm barking at handler throughout observation despite soft coaxing.
