A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Marky Mark greeted the runner with a wiggly body, soft eyes, and a loose tail wag. He was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, pulled moderately on leash while bypassing the other kennels, and was easy to collar. In the catch pen, his body was relaxed and wiggly. He entered the yard, and exchanged appropriate greetings with the other dogs. He tried to play with a few dogs, but ended up roaming the yard with a mellow demeanor when they did not play with him. He solicited petting from the handlers. When an energetic dog entered the yard, Marky Mark immediately engaged in play with her. He did not display any concerning behavior during the assessment, and remained friendly and playful with the other dogs for his entire stay in the yard. Marky Mark is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and prefers a rough/rowdy playstyle.
