A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and ife expenences. She was relaxed with an open mouth pant while walking on leash with the handler. Her loop leash was secured the fence, and a bowl of mixed wet and dry food was placed in front of her. She began eating slowly. She was not very interested in the food and some broken up treats were placed inside of the bowl. She resumed eating at a noral pace. The handler presented the assess-a-hand near the bowl, in the bowl and moved the food away from her. She did not display any offensive or negative behavior to the hand being near her bowl. The bowl was placed back in front of her and she resumed eating. She did not react to the hand touching any part of her body. Nor did she react to the hand in the bowl next to her muzzle. She was allowed to eat until content. Once she stopped, the bowl was moved away. Atennis ball was then given to her. She seemed interested, sniffing the bal and nudging it with her muzzle. The hand was presented again, and she backed a way from the ball, not showing any offensive or negative behavior while it was being moved away. She lost interest in the ball and did not approach it after this. She did not display any resource guarding behavior during the assessment with food or a ball. She was initially wary of the handler and would not allow the handler to kneel in front of her as she kept walking behind him and sitting down. The handler spent a few moments building trust with her and was comfortable enough to stand in front of him. The handler easily looked in her ears and viewed her teeth without any negative reaction. She was loose with soft eyes as the handler held her front paws. She was wary of her tail being touched a briefly lowered her back end upon contact. She sat down with her rear paws being held, not comfortable with that contact but then rolled onto her side. She was displaying appeasement behavior, allowing the handler to rub her belly. She relaxed significantly as her belly was rubbed and began leaning against the handler. She needs a go-slow approach with trust building when meeting her initially as she appears to not be socialized well.
