Koby is an adoptable male Boxer looking for a home at Dallas Animal Services in Dallas, Texas. He is still very young and medium in size. updated web memo: Koby is a male dog who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) with Legg-Calv'-Perthes disease affecting the right femoral head. Radiographs demonstrate changes consistent with Legg-Calv'-Perthes disease of the right femoral head; the femoral head has not fractured at this time. An FHO (femoral head ostectomy) procedure is recommended to address the affected hip, relieve pain and discomfort, and improve Koby's mobility and quality of life. Without appropriate surgical intervention, Koby is at risk for worsening pain, progression of the disease, and potential fracture or additional complications. This level of specialized orthopedic surgery and postoperative recovery support exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his condition, Koby remains resilient and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Koby needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive prompt orthopedic evaluation, an FHO procedure, and appropriate postoperative rehabilitation and recovery care to restore his comfort and mobility.
