Maisy is an adoptable female German Shepherd looking for a home at Los Angeles County - Lancaster in Lancaster, California. She is fully grown and medium in size. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" She required a go-slow approach when being collared by the runner in the catch pen and was very flinch with touch. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She approached a male shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with him. She then approached a female shepherd and exchanged a soft greeting with her. The female shepherd gave a growl and show of teeth waming for space, for lingering near her face. Maisy respected this and had no negative reaction back. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. She remained calm and social for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. She was very wary of the handlers in the yard and would create space from where they were. Maisy is social with the other dogs, but she displayed no play style at this time and would ikely do best with a calmer dog. See handling assessment for further stipulations. The handler knelt and called to her, but she did not approach. The handler slowly picked up her leash and knelt a little closer to her. She allowed the handler to pet her head, but she is head shy and would flinch, while licking her lips. When the handler touched her ears, she would flinch and lick her lips. When the handler touched her front and back paws, she pulled them away and was licking her lips. When the handler touched his tail, she tucked it. When the handler tried to check her teeth, she would quickly pull away. She was not comfortable with any areas being handled and was very flinchy. She was retumed to his kennel without issue. She appears very under socialized with people. Due to her lack of socialization with people and her handling sensitivities, she will be designated as rescue only.
