Cash is an adoptable male Poodle looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is fully grown and small in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to behavior. Adopting Cash, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Cash came to ACCT Philly on September 8th as an owner surrender after six years with his family, following a few years of behavioral challenges that became difficult to manage, including bites to people and other dogs in the home. Since arriving, Cash has shown a softer side, often seeking out attention and leaning against people for pets. He has been easy to walk, appears housetrained, and has had good meets with other dogs. Cash can be sensitive to unexpected handling, but he has continued to show that he enjoys affection and can form positive connections with people. Given his behavioral history, Cash is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner who can provide the behavioral support he needs and take the time to get to know him in a home environment. VIDEOS: Cash & Bayamon: Cash and Astra Fence Meet: Cash Seeks Pets: BEHAVIOR NOTES: Per volunteer 9/25: Low energy. Short walk. Potty break. Housetrained. Per volunteer 9/20: We did two fence meets today, both captured on video, sniffing each other and then Cash started to pee on the fence. He was easy to get out of crate and walked easily through the kennels. He curled up in front of me in the hallway and sought pets. I pet him on the top and back of his head, his ears, and his neck. See videos. When I returned to his kennel, Cash hopped in quickly and I realized the leash stopper wasn't far back enough for the leash to fit over his head. Cash was facing into the back of the kennel and as I reached in and started pulling back on the stopper, he whipped his head around, growled, bared teeth, and air snapped as I quickly moved away. I brought him out of the kennel. He easily hopped out and low growled some as I moved the stopper with one of the poles a little bit. I put him back in the kennel and was able to use the pole to hook his leash and get it over Cash's head. Per staff 9/18: Kennel Presentation: at the front of the kennel with loose body, soft eyes, mid tail wagging. Took a treat gently. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of kennel. Moderately pulls on the leash. Immediately went to the bathroom. Sociability: Came over and solicited for pets with relaxed open mouth, soft eyes and mid tail wagging. At times would place his paws on my legs. Dog Interaction: Met Walter through the fence. good greetings with a wagging tail. Return to Kennel: Wet right into kennel and I used the Clip to slip the leash off. Per volunteer 9/12: Low-medium energy. Housetrained. Came out and went into kennel without issues. Per staff 9/10: Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side, mid to high wagging tail, soft eyes. Took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Slightly dodged the leash at first, able to leash easily with a treat lure. Once leashed came right out and walked pulling mildly on leash, ears back, high tail. Once outside went to the bathroom right away. Sociability: Owner searching in the yard. Would come over when I started walking with him and called him. Sat down leaning against my leg and allowed all handling with ears back, low tail, panting. Eating on and off outside, would take the treats he ate very gently. Dog Interaction: Met Bayamon, sniffed and was sniffed, moved away on his own. Return to Kennel: Walked back loose body pulling mildly. My stopper on my leash got stuck and he sat leaning in to my leg as I got it up. Hopped right into kennel and leash was removed easily hand. Color Level: Exp Gold Per owner surrender notes 9/8: Had him for 6 years. Surrendering due to behavioral issues. He loves rubs. Doesn't like to be grabbed/ picked up unexpectedly. He lays around a lot, likes to chill, likes to play. Lives with two other small dogs. Fully housetrained and crate trained. High energy. He becomes very aggressive - he will get nippy and bite. He's very timid around new people/things. He has bitten me, my girlfriend, and my two other dogs. Broke skin on me and other dog. Knows the commands sit, stay, and goodnight. Walks pretty well on leash. Likes beggin bites and tug toys. Is timid with strangers and barks. He likes children, but is still weary. He barks at cats. He is iffy with other dogs. He is a good dog he may need extra attention behaviorally. He thrives being the only dog in the house, however he loves to play with other dog when he bonds with them. Per staff conversation with owner 9/8: Surrender due to behavior. Dog is not fixed. For the last three years has had unpredictable aggression with owners. Recently started biting other resident pets also (1 year old intact female, 10 year old intact male). MEDICAL NOTES: Cash'is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection (URI) or \"doggy cold.\" URIs are contagious to other dogs, but not to people or other types of animals. -- Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
