Name: PETER Animal ID: A5800481 Location: Downey Breed: PIT BULL Color: BLACK Sex: Male Age: 3 years 0 months Weight: 42 lbs Large Dogs OK Medium Energy Level Came in as a stray Attachments September 15, 2026 E26-096129 PLAYGROUP DOWNEY A5800481 'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Peter A5800481 (intact) greeted the runner with a stoic demeanor, his body was neutral, his eyes were alert, his tail was neutral with no wag, his mouth was closed and his ears were alert. He was easy to remove, and he nervously walked through the kennels. He moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when he was introduced to the dogs his body was low, his eyes were concerned, his tail was low with no wag and his ears were alert. He was nervous but tolerant during collaring and leashing. He refused to enter the yard, the handler had to gently leash guide him inside, he yelped and slightly flailed. Once in the yard he nervously roamed the yard. He was quiet, he sniffed his environmental surroundings. After some time, he began to approach the dogs, he was interested, his eyes were alert, his tail was slightly high, his ears were alert and his body was neutral. He began to play with the dogs. He ran around with a loose body, soft eyes, a neutral tail wag and an open mouth with a soft pant. He played well with the dogs. Once he became tired, he sat under the bench and rested. Overall, Peter was social with the dogs and would benefit best in a push/pull yard. See handling assessment.
