Brownie recently went on a straycation and was returned due to becoming aroused while in their care, tracking their shoes, and biting their lower legs/feet. This was reported to break skin. Brownie has shown fearful and avoidant behavior with handlers, though with time to warm up and in calmer environments has displayed social behavior, approaching with a loose body. Medically, Brownie is apparently healthy. Brownie was surrendered to the care center by his previous owner due to their personal circumstances. During his time at the care center, Brownie has shown fearful and avoidant behavior with handlers, though with time to warm up and in calmer environments has displayed social behavior, approaching with a loose body. During a recent Straycation in a foster home, Brownie is reported to have become highly over aroused when a guest entered the home, escalating to repeatedly biting the guests feet and lower legs, breaking skin in a couple of instances. The foster also reported that he had bitten their shoes three times in a previous incident. The fosters otherwise described Brownie as affectionate and tolerant to handling. Due to these concerns, we recommend that Brownie be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope Rescue partner, that can allow him the time and space to decompress and acclimate on his own terms and provide any necessary (force-free, positive-reinforcement based) behavior modification.
